The following further proves that Spanish was and continues to be the "Character", the "Custom" and the Way of Life for California and U.S. Southwestern states; this is in accordance with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ratified by the U.S. Congress 1848, which protects the rights, the Spanish language of the conquered Mexican Americans. The Official permanent and historical records of New Mexico and Arizona reflect the "Character" of the "U.S." was and still is Spanish. This is noted on the following official U.S., Spanish, Mexican, U.S.Congressional, Newspapers both in Spanish & English and other Documents: The official NM site is at http://www.state.nm.us/cpr/ahsd_top.htm
