Spring Encampment 1998!
The Catalonian Volunteers are hosting a spring encampment at
San Jos de Tumaccori March 13 - 15, 1998!
A chance to drill, march, and patrol! An event designed to eat
period foods and gather ideas for making Spanish Colonial Living
History come together for the betterment of us all! NPS has
proposed that weekend due to the full moon and a high mass
at the Mission Friday night the 13th. The Park Service has
offered to help with gas money for the travelers. The Catalonians
will provide the period meals. This is a late 1700 period event,
and all presidio and regular soldiers are invited. Tumaccori
National Historical Park is run by the National Park Service.
Located 4 miles south of the presidio of Tubac, Tumacacori is
connected to the presidio by the Anza trail, a path that follows the
beautiful tree lined Santa Cruz River. Commitments have already
come in from the Presidio of San Diego, Santa Barbara and Bejar.
