The 2002 American Gi Forum 54th Annual National Conference was dedicated to one of New Mexico's heroes and a hero to all Americans -Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient, W.O. Richard L. Rocco, USA.

Delegates from all over the United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico helped honor this honored guest, truly a native son, born, and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Thanks to Conference Chair, Louis P. Tellez and Co-Chair Isabelle Ogaz Tellez, for  for leading their group of hard-working men and women put on one of the best attended, best organized, and simply best conference in recent years.

Secretary of Veterans Affairs, the Honorble Anthony J. Principi was the keynote speaker at the Commander's Banquet, with Lt. Gen Edward D. Baca, Master Of Ceremonies.
