Report on the Hero's Parade

October 6, 1996

Hero's Parade in Washington D.C. reported by Mike Hardwick, Soldado from the Soldados de Santa Barbara.

Heros celebration went very well.....weather was excellant.

Hector Diaz's Lousiana Regiment sported a color guard....kids from one of the military high schools carried many of the flags of Latin America. And of course 4 Soldados de Cuerra from California (us) were there with our lances and a Written Charter of Goodwill from the Mayor of Santa Barbara.

See the Charter of Goodwill from the Mayor of  Santa Barbara.

The parade went down Virginia Ave and stopped at the various monuments where wreaths were placed. I did see a small clip on Washington local TV. This is the second march for Hector. He is hoping to build this march into something better each year. He is working with limited funds....and he does a wonderful job!....My hat is off to Hector Diaz, who himself is a true Spanish Cultural Hero!
